Cinema Conversación LGBTQ* #5: Zander Porter

Artist talk, Performance, and Video-art

01.02.2019 6:30pm -  9pm

For the fifth edition of its Cinema Conversación LGBTQ* moving-image series curated by Zsombor Bobák, SomoS proudly presents a hybrid evening of artist talk, performance, and video-art with Zander Porter.

Cinema Conversación is a series of screenings and discussions that focuses on LGBTQ* experiences and provides a platform to challenge and question rigid boundaries within film and cinema.

This time, Zander Porter will guide you through their artistic work in which moving images have a peculiar place, often functioning as elements and surfaces of interaction within the realm of performance. In this work, attention towards, and awareness of the camera gradually detach from the physicality of the recording apparatus itself. It recedes into a psychic space that describes scary-fun social textures and inter-personalities.

A discussion with the artist will follow the talk.

About the artist:

Zander Porter is an artist, performer, and curator from Los Angeles. Zander’s moving image and performance work develops from collective vs. “individuated” identity- or persona-based investigation. Social and (dis)embodiment research focuses on virtual and physical spaces of sexual and nonsexual roleplay, including online reality TV competition games, MMOGs, and (anonymous) (cam)sex, among others.

Zander graduated with high honors in Art Studio from Wesleyan University with additional attentions in Computer Science and Performance Studies and works in and outside of Berlin individually/collaboratively as well as part of XenoEntities Network.
